A lovely experience with Cat and Rabbit who have looked after our cats for years. You can tell the staff really care about their jobs

The staff at the Cat and Rabbit Clinic are second to none. They are very helpful and caring, and the main vet, Simon, is an expert cat whisperer, who has his own adored cats. When my cat Jemima was killed by a car, the staff sent me a very touching condolence card, beautifully written, with seeds of flowers, which I have to admit I haven’t been able to bring myself to plant yet. The practice has other vets also, all of whom are very good, except one several years ago, whom I haven’t seen since. The nurses are also good. I feel that my two felines are in good hands with this veterinary practice. I trust them very much indeed.

First went here for guinea pigs after realising not all vets have experience with guinea pigs and I can honestly say they're were amazing. I now only have cats and they are still brilliant. They are caring and gentle and happy to help even over the phone. Would highly recommend to anyone

I am extremely saddened and frustrated by my experience with Northlands Cat and Rabbit clinic following surgery for my rabbit, Binx. Binx underwent surgery for an abscess and was discharged into my care. At the discharge appointment, I was shown how to administer injections at home using saline as a demonstration. However, I was not informed that he was supposed to receive his first Depocillin (penicillin) injection during the discharge appointment, and this injection was not administered before he was sent home. I was also not provided with any written discharge instructions regarding the antibiotic or when it should be given. The following day, Binx returned to the practice with a high fever. Two members of staff indicated that his condition was likely sepsis and he sadly passed away. After his death, and following my complaint, the practice confirmed in writing that the intended plan had been for the nurse to administer the first Depocillin injection during the discharge appointment, but that this dose had been overlooked. They also acknowledged that I had not been provided with written discharge instructions. However, I did not feel that their response adequately addressed the seriousness of what had occurred or clearly explained what measures would be put in place to prevent something similar happening again, so I sent a further response. Following a chaser email I sent to the Cat & Rabbit clinic, I was informed that I would receive a further reply by 6 March 2026. However, I was later advised that this deadline was not correct and would have been extended following my additional response, which created further confusion, particularly as I had been chasing for an updated timeframe in relation to my follow-up email. In any case, the 6 March date passed without any update or clarification. It has now been six weeks since I first raised my complaint and the matter remains unresolved. Following the missed deadline, I sent multiple follow-up emails on Saturday, Monday, and again yesterday requesting an update, or at the very least an acknowledgement or confirmation if an extension to the deadline was required. These emails went unanswered by the Cat & Rabbit clinic itself, and I only received a response after contacting the general Northlands email address. In that response I was advised that I should receive a reply “in the next couple of weeks”, however no specific date was initially provided until I requested one. The lack of communication and inconsistent information throughout this process has been extremely frustrating, particularly given that my complaint relates to negligence surrounding Binx’s discharge and care. Losing a pet is devastating, and the circumstances surrounding Binx’s death and the handling of the complaint have made this experience even more distressing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this veterinary practice and if i could give lower than 1 star I would.
